Inscription ： Helgoland is known as Germany’s only offshore-island situated
somewhere in the North Sea. The island is famous for its cliff line of red stone
and especially for the only freestanding rock in Germany, the “Lange Anna”.
Besides, there are millions of birds populating the island, most of them
protected species which you can watch on guided tours exploring the island.

环游 Helgoland 是四个月前的事了，现在把游记补上，也为了将来的某一天回想起这些走过的路，经过的美景，还可以到这里捡起一些记忆的碎片。
PhD Days Event 是 AWI 每年一次的惯例，算是一年一度比较大的博士学术交流活动， AWI 分布在 Bremerhaven
、 Potsdam 、 Helgoland 和 Sylt 的部门每年分别轮流承办。今年是我来 AWI 的第一年，所以 5 月份的 PhD Days
当然积极报了名，而且今年是在位于北海中的 Helgoland
岛上，岂能错过了。其实也算是趁着学术交流的机会，可以在这个岛上待几天，免费环游一下这个只有几平方公里的小岛。
Helgoland 位于北海（ North Sea
）中，并不与德国大陆相连，被认为是德国唯一的一个深海海岛，其实它还位于大陆架上，深海也是相对而言。从德国大陆只能坐船或者直升机前往。
Helgoland 由两个岛屿组成，主岛与 D ü ne
岛。主岛的地势从南往北由低到高，沿着商业区往到岛中央走，可以爬阶梯或者乘电梯上高地。上到高处，可以俯瞰低地处商业街和居民区的全貌，也能一睹被侵蚀的高地地貌、壮观的自然风光和成百上千栖息在那儿的鸟儿。
