The PhD in Political Economy and Government (PEG) Program is designed for students and scholars to explore and examine the impact of politics on economic processes and outcomes, and the reciprocal influence of economic conditions on political life.
The program equips students for academic or policymaking careers that demand strong backgrounds in economics and political science. It is particularly suitable for students whose intellectual interests are not met by studying economics, political science, or public policy alone.
Recently, our students have been focusing their research in areas such as environmental resource policies, institutional transition and reform, international political economy, political development, political and economic institutions, and social policy.
Students work with their faculty advisors to design a two-year curriculum that is geared towards their academic interests and pursuits, while also fulfilling the core requirements of their declared track in either economics or political science.
