The Chinese government actively promotes the development of social welfare, raising funds through various channels to provide social welfare benefits to the elderly, orphans and the disabled, said a white paper issued by the Information Office of the State Council on Tuesday.
According to the relevant laws and regulations on the protection of the rights and interests of the elderly, minors and disabled, the state and the society have adopted measures to improve conditions for such people’s livelihoods, health and participation in social development, said the white paper titled China’s Social Security and Its Policy.
Governments at all levels include services for elderly people in their social-economic development plans. As well, all levels of government are calling for increased investments in these services and are encouraging investment from all sectorsof society, said the white paper.
