2010年5头伯明翰雄狮生于南非蒂姆巴瓦迪保护区Ngala营地的伯明翰狮群，它们的生父是3头老伯明翰雄狮，其中两头在13年行踪不明的消失了，失踪的原因众说纷纭。
在2013年的8月伯明翰狮群的最后一头伯明翰地主雄狮被两头年轻的雄狮打败，也就是后来与鬼二、马二结盟过的Rockfig老大与其小弟。

We found the 2 refugees again this afternoon,at main dam. Add that to a Buffalo herd and some Elephant, while the other guys got a female Cheetah in the east. Not a bad afternoon at all
一个月后的6月份在Manyeleti 保护区 Tintswalo营地的main大坝目击到两个流浪的狮子，它们正是伯明翰狮群的成员。
由于马提巴北分队与其它雄狮联盟的战争已经延续到了它们生活的Ngala营地，所以它们可能是为了避开战火流浪到此地。

Just after that we got a call from Fritz that he had picked up two Lions on another Buffalo kill on Gumede road. So we made our way to take advantage of the good morning light. The two that were there, were a pair of young Lions, we believe are from the Birmingham pride. We call them the “Refugees”! The reason for this name is that the Matimbas, we believe are putting pressure on the Birmingham’s to our north, so these youngsters have probably been forced away from their natal pride. The photos we got were really good, of them feeding and a few other shots as well.

We then returned to the lions on Xiskankanka road and found Fritz in the sighting, so we positioned ourselves to the side of the Lions, so that we side lit Lions and with the Lions feeding the results were dramatic. This is how we ended the first safari, with some mating Leopards and a very creative Lion sighting

Morning 11th July
We were following up on reports of a large pride of Lion around Red Road, and stumbled on the Birmingham pride just to the south of Khoka moya cutline. They were taking it quite easy, relaxing as the sun was coming up. They slowly started heading back north towards Ngala loop, and into a burnt area and we couldn’t follow any further. So we decided to go to Khoka moya dam for a cup of coffee.

Morning 16th July
I had woken up at 3:30 for some unknown reason and heard the unmistakable sound of a dying Buffalo. When we got going, we immediately found an unknown group of Lions on a Buffalo kill on Sable west road. Two of the Lions were the male and female, we have dubbed the “refugees”. So this puts an interesting mix in our Lion dynamics. Who are they? Where do they come from? Are they related? And the truth is we don’t know! The normal aggression and interesting interaction was happening, and we stayed with them for over an hour.

We got out later again in the morning, but this time we had some information to follow up on. Hannes, one of our maintenance guys, said he had seen four Lions at our pumphouse, only ten minutes before we got going. We made our way to the area immediately, and after only about five minutes of tracking we found three of the Birmingham young males and a Lioness on Panicum. We stayed with the Lions for about half an hour as they moved from Panicum to River road, about 100 meters from the lodge.

Morning 31st July
We made our way directly to the kill site, just on the other side of Gumede road. Literally 300 meters from the presidential suite! We found the young coalition of lions feeding in the early morning light. There was the normal Lion feeding behaviour, squabbling over the kill. This usually amuses me, when there is still about 300kg of the Buffalo left, but they’ll still fight over food. The sighting quickly became the focus of all the guide’s safari plan and I decided to make some space for the other guides.

Morning August 20thLate in the morning, one of the other guides found a lone young male Lion on madache. We arrived to find one of the young Birmingham males lying in some thick grass. It wasn’t one of the best Lion sightings I have ever seen, but this was mission accomplished. On the way back to the lodge, we found some more Zebra, to the absolute delight of the guests.

Morning 25th August
Domingo, our security guard told me he had heard a male Leopard calling close to our presidential suite, about half an hour before I had arrived at the lodge. Finally I thought! We got out nice and early, and immediately found a lone Hyena running towards Presidential crossing. The Hyena was going to lead us straight to the Leopard, possibly with a kill. It got to pump house and stopped, it wasn’t leopard, but the young Birmingham Lions lying at Pump house pan. A great start! After all the effort of tracking Lions the previous day, Mother Nature delivered the lions to us. Typical! Their bellies were full, and they were very lazy, but we enjoyed the moments with them.

CHITWA RANGER LOG 15 September 2014 by Head Guide Neil Jennings
A fantastic week in terms of lion sightings! Field Guide Andries called in a sighting of three young males on a young buffalo kill and of course we rushed over to take a look. We had never seen these three youngsters before. However, it seemed that they were very relaxed which suggested that they have been viewed many a time by open vehicles - and after a bit of research it turns out that they form part of the Birmingham pride that moved in from a Northern neighbouring reserve - what a great find! They hung around for a couple of days and then appeared to move off into the central part of the reserve. Lion action got even better as three of the Majingalane males were found feasting on a massive buffalo bull. After two days of eating, they left the carcass, and to our surprise the next morning we found the Tsalala pride finishing off the remains. All seven members were present and the four cubs are looking strong and healthy. To top off the brilliant lion week were lucky to also get the Nkuhuma pride as well as a Matimba male.
Lion viewing has been quiet of late, and so suddenly we have been spoilt!
And for the cherry on the cake - some ‘leopard news – reports are coming in about Thandi’s cubs, now around six weeks old – she is hiding them in a den very difficult to access, so sightings are hard to come by…but we are hearing of the first glimpses so stay tuned for more safari news from Chitwa Chitwa……

Morning 19th September
The morning started off with a massive bang. Lions killing a Buffalo only a few hundred meters away from the lodge. We quickly followed the cries of the distressed Buffalo, and found the eight Birminghams surrounding the unfortunate Buffalo. This was the beginning of a two and a half hour saga, as we watched the siege tactics unfold. The Lions would take turns to harass the Buffalo, and when an opportunity came along to jump on the back of the Buffalo, biting into the spine, while another would bite at the back of the legs. The Buffalo fought bravely, but eventually he started to tire and made one last effort to get away, but that was the opening that the Lions had been working towards, and just out of sight, in a spikethorn thicket, the brave Buffalo eventually gave in.
4天以后的9月19日早上，三头伯明翰雄狮离开萨比森回到了m保护区的Tintswalo Lodges，,8只伯明翰狮群成员围攻一头不幸的水牛，它们采用车轮战与围攻战来攻击这头水牛，最终两个半小时后制服这头勇敢的水牛。
