赫敏父亲工伤死亡，母亲较不负责（与原著中的牙医父母不同），家中经济条件较差。这里所谓的Hogwarts Institute for Gifted Children还不如说是A Institute for Rich Kids，像赫敏这样靠奖学金进来的穷学生是少数。哈赫二人第一次面对面接触始于哈利高价聘请一位网名为格兰芬多的黑客帮忙改分（化学教授斯内普给哈利的论文打了负一分，哈哈哈）。之后二人逐渐成为朋友，并在交谈与初步调查后，发现哈利父母的死因，和赫敏父亲的死因，均与大型犯罪团伙The Noble Blacks有关。此时被迫到阿兹卡班当志愿者的赫敏，与狱中的汤姆.里德尔.布莱克，都开始调查对方的身份背景（汤姆是寄子，所以姓布莱克）。好戏正式开始。
