The book that influenced me the most is《Harry Potter》,actually it is a series of seven books. These books tell the story of a boy called Harry who unexpectedly discovered he is a wizard on his eleventh birthday. In the first six books,Harry enjoyed his study at a wizarding school called Hogwarts, and meanwhile fought his enemy Lord Voldemort ,a dark wizard ,with the help of his friends. In the seventh and the last book,Harry and his two best friends finally managed to defeat Voldemort and brought the peace back to the wizarding world.
The reason why the book《Harry Potter》is important to me is that it seemed to have openned up a new world for me and made English magical. I watched 《Harry Potter》movies first and bought the complete English edition of Harry Potter when I was in senior one,partly because I liked the story and characters so much that I desired to know more about the wizarding world, and partly because I wanted to improve my English by reading English novels. Learning English by reading 《Harry Potter》is even much more enjoyable and effective than I expected. The description in the books is so vivid that while reading these books ,I feel like I'm stepping into a magical world,that I'm really flying in the sky freely on a broom,walking in an alley lined with magical shops and casting spells in various magical lessons. My English was poor when I started senior high school, but after I read the series two times in a row, my English score rose from a few hundred in the whole school to the top thirty. English has become my best and most interested subject, all thanks to the《Harry Potter》 series. Now I continue to listen to《 Harry Potter》 audio books in my spare time to improve my listening and vocabulary. So this is why this series of book is so important to me.
