Porthos is indirectly referenced in Star Trek, when Montgomery Scott mentions "Admiral Archer's prized Beagle". Screenwriter Roberto Orci, responding to a question about whether this was Porthos (and whether veterinary science had advanced enough for a dog to live over a hundred years), answered "YES!" It should be noted, however, that the individual who asked the question pleaded for the writer to "please say yes.
