A Song for Willow Catkin

似雾中花，
似风前雪，
似雨馀云。
Veiled as petals in mist,
fluttering as snowflakes through wind,
drifting as clouds after rain.
本自无情，
点萍成绿，
却又多情。
Heartless one, though,
she dedicates herself to green duckweed, apart,
and overflowed with tenderness was her heart.
西湖南陌东城。
甚管定、年年送春。
At West Lake, on south roads, and to the east town,
she sees off spring year after year,
wandering with nowhere to depend upon.
薄幸东风，
薄情游子，
薄命佳人。
Is she not, a wretch whom the east wind spare,
a parting ranger whom a mother waits in despair,
or a miserably-destined lady fair?
