Inspecting the Frontier
单车欲问边，属国过居延。
On a single carriage, I am on an inspection tour to the frontier.
Our land is so wide as it extends to the northmost end.
征蓬出汉塞，归雁入胡天。
Our soldiers stride past the remotest mountain passes.
The return wild geese fly into former enemy's sky.
大漠孤烟直，长河落日圆。
The desert erects an upright column of smoke.
The Yangzi embraces a setting ball of flames.
萧关逢候骑，都护在燕然。
In the west I meet a few rider scouts.
They say the commander's quarters are still far ahead.
